Emotional Design

After a departure from the goals of this blog (refer my previous post), I decided to rein in my curiosity and align with this blog’s intent.
Human beings are emotional creatures with a logical slant in their thoughts and behaviors. I believe that all rational thoughts stem from the irrational rules. It fascinates me and I bet the readers too! – Every human being who buys product wants to please his emotional needs  first (which are the irrational rules-foundation) and then gives a outward  perception as though it’s completely functional and rational. So next time you develop/design a product (tangible or intangible/consumer or software), the more precise you are in gratifying  the customers emotional mind, the chances are that the user would find reasons to justify the design.
How is it relevant to software?
Software products should address the business/brand (that the consumer connects with the product) needs rather concentrating on pure technology. Business/Brand drives the technology and, emotions drive Business/Brand. Software developers usually focus on the technology but rather, a design engineer, focuses on the business and the consumer needs. Being practical and taking into account the needs of your consumer is key for emotional design.
